The Blossomtime Kings and Queens will be going on a tour of southwest Michigan next week, and one place they’ll stop is the birthplace of the Blossomtime Festival in Benton Harbor. Michael Hoyh with the Legacy Group of Benton Harbor tells us they’ve invited the royalty to tour a local church.

“It’s the 116th anniversary of Blossomtime, and the former First Congregational Church in the city of Benton Harbor is the birthplace of the Blossomtime Festival,” Hoyh said. “That’s where they started over 116 years ago, and the kings and queens will be having a tour of this historic property here in the city of Benton Harbor.”

Hoyh says Blossomtime was started by the pastor at the church 116 years ago to celebrate the natural gifts of the world. He hopes the Blossomtime royalty will get a sense of the event’s origins and history with their tour of the church. They’ll stop there Monday at 3:30 p.m. as they tour all of the communities of southwest Michigan.
