A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, April 28, at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church – Sister Lakes, 66325 M-152, Dowagiac, MI, with Pastor Stefan Sonnenfeld officiating. Burial will follow at Keeler Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church – Sister Lakes. Helen was born January 6, 1941 in Elkhart, IN to Theodore and Margaret (Holdeman) McManus. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1960. She married Harold E. Garrett in Elkhart, IN on July 4, 1963. They were happily married for 52 years before his passing in 2015. Helen was a member of the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sister Lakes for 58 Years; she was a devout Christian and loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Helen is survived by her six children; Mark (Charlene) Garrett of Bangor, MI, Cherie Garrett of Sister Lakes, MI, Kristina (Dan) Chowning of Oregon, Angela (Bruce) Smith of Hartford, MI, Melissa (Elliott) Stowe of Stevensville, MI and Valerie (Garrick) Rochow of Stockbridge, MI; nine grandchildren and multiple great-grandchildren; and many in-laws. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Tammy Renee Garrett; and one grandchild.
