Candidates File To Run For State, Federal Offices

The candidates have been finalized for the August primaries in southwest Michigan. The filing deadline was this week.

Running for Congress as Republicans in the Fourth District, which covers Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and north to Holland, will be Bill Huizenga, while the Democrat is Joseph Alfonso.

For the Fifth District, which is Berrien County south of St. Joseph and spreading east across the state, the Republicans are Tim Walberg, Elizabeth Ferszt, and Sherry O’Donnell. The Democrat is Bart Goldberg.

Looking at the Michigan House in the 38th District, along the lakeshore up to Saugatuck, the Republicans are Steven Lucas and Kevin Whiteford, while the Democrats are Annie Brown and Joey Andrews.

In the 37th District, it’s Republicans Brad Paquette and J.D. Haughey. The Democrat is Naomi Ludman.

For State Senate in the 17th District, the Republicans are Kim LaSata and Jonathan Lindsey, while the Democrat is Scott Rex Starr.

In the 20th District, the Republicans are Aric Nesbitt, Kaleb M. Hudson, and Austin Kreutz. The Democrat is Kim Jorgensen Gane.

The primary is August 2.
