Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad has ended his campaign for Congress. He announced on Facebook this week he believes he does have the passion to run for the Fourth District. However, he says he also has “the courage to realize that this is not the right time for me to pursue this honorable office.” Muhammad writes he has “an obligation and a passion to remain engaged in the City of Benton Harbor as we usher in more projects and needed changes over the next two years than in the past 20 combined.” He cites affordable housing, infrastructure work, and the ongoing project to replace lead water lines as among major priorities. Muhammad says he believes the job he needs to do for the city remains unfinished. He adds he will “work even harder to bring a clear voice to the process that we must bring real solutions that solve our problems.”
