Excitement is building for the 2022 Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship, to be held at Harbor Shores May 25 through May 29. The PGA invited golfers from all over southwest Michigan to get in on the fun with a Community Long Drive Contest Wednesday at Pipestone Indoor Country Club in Benton Harbor. Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship Director Brandon Haney told us people are ready.

“It’s really ramping up in the community right now, and I think it’s a culmination of us being back for the first time in four years after unfortunately having to cancel in 2020, but also it’s golf season again and everyone’s really excited for the warmer weather and to get back out and get back into the swing of things.”

Harbor Shores Golf Operations Manager Jackson Davison said this year’s championship is going to be a good event.

“This will be my second one, and I love the event. I love what it does for our area and the community and what it obviously does for Harbor Shores. I’m super excited. I think this is going to be the best field that has ever come here to play and compete.”

Those who took part in the long drive contest on the virtual driving range Wednesday stood to win tickets to the Kitchenaid Senior PGA Championship and access to the Makers Trail 19th Hole. The makers who will offer their products were on hand for the driving contest. Haney said it was a way to have the community take part in the championship.
