Former President Trump stumped in Macomb County over the weekend, but will it be a boost for the Republicans’ bid to unseat Governor Whitmer? Pollster Ed Sarpolus, the executive director of Target Insyght, says not so much. While he threw his support behind candidates running for the Secretary of State and Attorney General, he did not so in the governor’s race.

“He mentioned Tudor Dixon, but he never gave her formal support. He’s been much more cautious on endorsement. He didn’t say here’s my person for governor; he was much more open and Attorney General and Secretary of State, but not in the governor’s race, which is very big in Michigan.”

Sarpolus says it may be because the candidates are not that well-known statewide. Trump only mentioned gubernatorial hopeful Tudor Dixon of Norton Shores.
