State Representative Steve Carra has dropped out of the race for Congress in the new Fourth District. Carra has instead announced he’ll run for reelection in the Michigan House. Carra was running against Congressman Bill Huizenga and possibly Congressman Fred Upton in the Fourth. He bowed out of the congressional race this week after former President Donald Trump endorsed Huizenga. Carra is now running for the Michigan House 36th District. The new Fourth District includes part of Berrien County, among them Upton’s home city of St. Joseph, and runs north to the Holland area. Upton has not formally announced he’s running in the district, although he has run campaign ads on television.
