Berrien County has honored a longtime and well-loved former employee by naming the veterans services conference room for him. Veterans Services Director Lee Lull told the Berrien County Board of Commissioners Thursday Warren L. Schultz served as a veteran services officer for many years. The World War II veteran died in 1994, but Lull says he’s well remembered and the county should honor him. He read from the resolution approving the name change.

“Dedicated to the honor of legacy of Warren L. Schultz, who proudly, admirably, and faithfully served veterans and their dependents from October 26, 1965 to July 29, 1988,” Lull said. “For nearly 23 years, Mr. Schultz was the director of Berrien County Veterans Services, known affectionately to veterans as their veterans services officer.”

The conference room in the veterans office is now named the Warren L. Schultz Conference Room. His daughter and granddaughter were on hand Thursday as the county board approved the name change. Lull said Schultz served in the Pacific during World War II.
