1962 St. Jude Children’s Hospital was founded by actor Danny Thomas. While a “starving actor”, he swore if he found success, he would open a shrine to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes.

2004 The social media website Facebook was launched by Mark Zuckerberg, along with his Harvard roommates. They initially limited membership to only Harvard students.
