Southwest Michigan will be digging out of quite a bit of snow soon. National Weather Service meteorologist Mark Frazier tells WSJM News the winter storm will dump a lot on the region by the time it’s through.

“Probably by the time we get into Thursday afternoon or Thursday evening, we could see upwards of eight to eleven inches there in Berrien County,” Frazier said.

On Tuesday afternoon, Frazier was expecting everything to start in the evening with rain, then turning to snow. He predicted most of the snow would be through Wednesday night. The fun doesn’t stop there, though.

“After this storm system moves out, we’re going to have some really cold temperatures, as in subzero, when we get to Friday night. So, the snow pack’s going to be with us a while. It’s not something that’s just going to melt in a few days. It’s going to be around for a while.”

Frazier said farther south in Indiana, they were expecting more than a foot of snow. For the next day, he advises those who don’t have to travel to just stay home. If you do have to travel, give yourself lots of extra time.
