The St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation has announced its scholarships for 2022, and there are a couple of new ones this year. Foundation Director Sue Riemland tells WSJM News the organization has been awarding $5,000 scholarships to graduates of St. Joseph High School since 2012.

“This year, we are offering two new scholarships,” Riemland said. “That brings our total to eleven $5,000 scholarships. There is a huge number of scholarship opportunities out in the community for the students, but these are the eleven that we administer through the foundation.”

Reimland says among the new scholarships this year is the Bill Marohn Leadership Scholarship funded by Dr. Gyl’s Professional Hearing Services

“That will be recognizing student leaders who demonstrate impeccable character, kind ness, and leadership skills, and those are very much in line with the kind of person Bill Marohn is.”

Bill Marohn is a former president of the St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation. The other new scholarship is the Spirit of Community Service Scholarship, funded by the Abdelnour Family, which highlights volunteer service to the community. Reimland says the foundation scholarships are created when a community member offers to fund them for the purpose of helping St. Joseph students thrive. The applications for 2022 graduates are available online and the deadline to submit is February 22
