Coming up the weekend of February 4 is the 2022 St. Joseph Ice Fest. St. Joseph Today’s Daniele Crevier tells WSJM News the event is a great way to celebrate the winter by taking in ice sculptures and games. The ice artists will start carving Friday evening.

“To see these small blocks of ice turn into these giant, towering, 8 foot, 7 foot sculptures is pretty amazing,” Crevier said. “We’ve had everything from Mario, we’ve had a praying mantis, a magical swan, a dragon.”

Crevier says at 7:30 that Friday night, they’ll light the Fire and Ice Tower.

“It’s a giant tower of ice that we do as a bonfire on the corner of State and Pleasant, right outside the Welcome Center.”

The weekend will feature the ice carving competition between the artists, a scavenger hunt, and games like fish tossing and ice bowling. There will also be an ice throne that Crevier says is great for photo opportunities. You can find out more at StJoeToday.com/IceFest.
