As Oxford and other school districts are back in class this week, a bipartisan Michigan House task force is looking at school safety following the Oxford High School shootings. State Representative Pamela Hornberger, a former teacher, is on the task force and told Michigan News Network it’s best for school districts to be in control.

“I don’t think anyone involved wants to jump to conclusions,” Hornberger said. “There’s a lot of things that people immediately thought that we should do, but it’s not good to jump to immediate conclusions and say every building will do this, or every school district will do that

Hornberger says they will look at guns and mental health counseling. The task force will meet this week.
