Lake Michigan College is preparing for its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Week. Set for January 17 through January 21, the celebration this year will include both in-person and virtual events with the theme, “I Have a Dream 2022: The Fierce Urgency of Now.” LMC says it will feature speakers, performances, round table discussions, community service projects, and more. Everything kicks off at 9 a.m., Monday, January17, with the MLK Week Kickoff. That will include messages Congressman Fred Upton, St. Joseph Mayor Laura Goos, and Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad, musical performances, and the announcement of the Spirit of MLK Spotlight recipients. There will be panel discussions throughout the rest of the day and week. Scheduled activities include a blood drive, water distribution in Benton Harbor, an MLK Live Read, a Race Relations Panel discussion, and presentations on MLK history.
