No one is hurt after a home fire in Chikaming Township Thursday morning. Chikaming Township Fire and Rescue says it was called around 7:15 to the home in Union Pier on a report of a chimney fire. They arrived to find the building fully involved. All of the residents had gotten out. Firefighters had a rough time battling the flames due to wind and cold, but they were able to clear the scene safely. Assisting at the scene were fire departments from New Buffalo Township, Bridgman, Lake Township, and Three Oaks, as well as the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, HART, Great Lakes Rescue, the Chikaming Water Department, the Berrien County Road Commission, and Medic 1. Bridgman City Public Works and Union Pier Builders also provided equipment for hauling hoses.
