As several schools throughout Michigan have been closed because of threats in the past week and four students were killed at Oxford High School last week, schools are taking a look at safety. Robert McCann is the executive director of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. He spoke with Michigan News Network.

“I wish I had an answer,” McCann said. “There’s no question that what took place in Oxford is just an absolute tragedy, and it’s one that certainly uniquely impacted the Oxford community, but as we’ve seen in the last week, it’s impacting schools throughout Michigan with threats being called in and concerns about safety in every one of our schools.”

McCann says there is no quick answer and no amount of security that you can put in a school building that will guarantee something like this won’t happen. He says we’ll have to start looking at these incidents from a holistic approach.
