The annual Mackinac Bridge Walk is back in person this year. About 30,000 people crossed the five-mile span this year. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was there to celebrate the Labor Day tradition.

“I think it’s important to pause and honor labor in Michigan,” said Whitmer. “That’s what Labor Day is all about,  the hard working men and women of unions who created the middle class in America. Happy Labor Day to everyone and I’m glad to be back in the Bridge Walk, which started in 1958.”

Whitmer says last year was a tough year for everyone and says people were excited about this year’s walk.
