1935 Sir Malcom Campbell drove his 2,500-hp V-12 engine “Bluebird” for two runs over a one-mile course averaging 301.129 mph The record was set at the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah.

1951 The soap opera Search for Tomorrow debuted on TV. It ran for 35 years.

 

Music History:

1966 Donovan went to No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Sunshine Superman’. The track featured then Yardbird and future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page. The song was written for Donovan’s future wife Linda Lawrence.
