The Niles and Paw Paw posts of Michigan State Police will have some new troopers soon as the 139th Michigan State Police Trooper Recruit School has held its graduation. Governor Gretchen Whitmer was the keynote speaker at the graduation in Lansing this week. The 57 new recruits spent months in training, learning everything from patrol techniques to report writing to cultural diversity and implicit bias to criminal law and precision driving. The Niles post will now get two additional troopers. They are Christopher Scott of Kentwood and Joseph Seidler of St. Joseph. The Paw Paw post will get three new troopers. They are Timothy Daniels of Adrian, Joshua Doan of Paw Paw, and Derek Reynolds of Sterling Heights. Governor Whitmer told the recruits she has their back and appreciates the sacrifices they make to keep Michigan safe.
