With the U.S. Senate approving the $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, Congressman Fred Upton is waiting to see what happens in the House. He tells WSJM News he and other members are wondering.

“A number of us have contacted the Speaker’s office and others, hoping that we can go back soon to put this to bed to send it to the president and to have him sign it,” Upton said. “It was a really good signal, the debate It took a little long, but at the end of the day, it’s done. So now it comes to the House. I don’t expect any amendments in the House. This is not a bill that’s going to go to conference to iron out any differences between the two.”

Upton says the Senate vote was 69 to 30, showing the two parties can come together when they know an issue has to be addressed. He says the package includes roads, bridges, broadband, water infrastructure to remove lead water lines, and protections for the energy grid.
