A new three-year agenda has been released by the United Way of Southwest Michigan. Director of Impact Strategies Amanda Drew tells WSJM News the organization releases its Agenda for Change every three years with the funding cycle to guide its programs moving ahead. How will the 2022 through 2025 agenda change things?

“The organization will still operate the way that we have been,” Drew said. “Our focus will just be more on the issue level. While in the past we have focused on education and financial stability, health, and basic needs, we’ve just broken those down a little bit more.”

The 2022 through 2025 agenda aims at four goals. They are projects that create change with systems, policies, and environment; simplifying the application and reporting process for projects; supporting the community’s aspirations for connection and inclusion; and using equity as a foundation. Drew says it takes a lot to develop these plans.

“Our impact cabinet is the one that really helps us to put this together with the expertise of our staff and the input and feedback from current partners, needs of our donors, and the aspirations of our community.”

Drew says with this plan, there will be increased emphasis on systems change and through an equity lens. You can see it yourself at UWSM.org/Agenda.
