Wayne State University is mandating students, professors, and other workers get the COVID-19 vaccine in order to go to class. All vaccination cards will have to be submitted by August 30. Senior Gladys Beatrah doesn’t have a problem with the requirement because it will mean in-person classes. She spoke with Michigan News Network.

“In order to have spaces where people are speaking and interacting with each other, I feel like having that mandate is putting more pressure on the students and faculty to be more on top of that,” Beatrah said. “I feel like it’s a necessary precaution.”

In addition to the vaccination requirement, Wayne State is also requiring masks be worn indoors by everyone, regardless of vaccination status. The mask mandate started today and runs thru mid-September. The University of Michigan and Michigan State are also mandating that their students and faculty get vaccinated.
