191 House Republicans have signed on to a resolution condemning socialism. Congressman Fred Upton tells us the resolution calls socialism “dangerous and patently anti-American.”

“We don’t need to move to socialism, that’s for sure,” Upton said. “I think that this could be a bipartisan proposal for sure if it moves, but it’s not a bad thing and it puts us on record for trying to support the democracy of the United States.”

The resolution was introduced by Congressman Maria Salazar of Florida. It says the ideology “necessitates a concentration of power that has time and time again collapsed into Communist regimes, totalitarian rule, and brutal dictatorships.” Upton says he doesn’t know if the symbolic resolution will get a vote in the House.
