The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced a detour that will be in place for those who go to the Berrien County Youth Fair in August. The fair is slated for August 16 through August 21, and MDOT’s Nick Schirripa tells WSJM News if people heading there from the north use M-139, that could cause problems.
“Because we’ve got this closure on M-139 for the drain replacement there between John Beers Road and Linco Road, we do have a detour in place for local traffic, but in talking with the Berrien County Road Department, our concern there is that the detour route will become overwhelmed with the Youth Fair traffic,” Schirripa said.
Schirripa says those headed south to the fair should instead take Napier Avenue over to US-31, and get to Berrien Springs that way. MDOT is working with the Berrien County Road Department and the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department to plan for the traffic.
