The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is planning an evening of family-friendly activities at Dwight P. Mitchell City Center Park as part of this year’s police National Night Out celebration. The National Night Out is held each summer as a way for police departments and the citizens they serve to mingle and get to know each other. The Benton Harbor gathering will be Tuesday, August 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. Everyone’s invited for free food, snow cones, games, and a book bag giveaway for kids. All citizens of Benton Harbor and Benton Township are invited to come and support positive relations between police and the community. On hand will be the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, the Benton Township Police Department, and the Benton Manor Cooperative Neighborhood Watch Program. The event last year attracted more than 800 people.
