Now that COVID-19 restrictions have been loosened in Michigan, travel is expected to be huge now through the rest of the year. That’s according to Pure Michigan vice President Dave Lorenz, who spoke with Michigan News Network this week.

“People have been just waiting to get out there and travel without a mask and now you can do that,” Lorenz said. “People want to go and enjoy these places where they can distance a little bit. That’s why most people are going up north, and the Upper Peninsula, of course, is a spectacular place to visit any time of year.”

Lorenz says the travel industry made a lot of adjustments with the pandemic, adding the says the ski industry in Michigan still had one of their best years last year. He expects that will continue this winter.
