With the Delta variant of COVID-19 now in Michigan, Congressman Fred Upton is urging everyone to get vaccinated. He tells WSJM News it’s the best way to stay protected and to protect others.
“Nothing’s 100%, but you’re better off if you’re vaccinated,” Upton said. “Some national reports, of course, show that 99.2% of the Americans who died of COVID in the month of June had not been vaccinated at all.”
The Delta variant has been detected in Kalamazoo County, where 61.1% of the population is vaccinated. Berrien County isn’t doing as well with 52.4% vaccinated, while 54.9% are vaccinated in Van Buren County, and just 36.9% are vaccinated in Cass County. Statewide, Michigan is at 62% vaccinated with at least one dose.
