1948 The invention of the transistor was announced and demonstrated by three Doctors at Bell Laboratories. It replaced the vacuum tube and lead the way to integrated circuits and the modern electronic world.
1953 The first Chevrolet Corvette was produced. It was the first plastic-laminated fiberglass sports car. White with red interior and black top was the only color combination offered. Clip in side curtains were an option to the roll-up windows. Three hundred were produced with a base price of $3,498.
1971 The 26th Amendment was ratified, lowering the voting age to 18.

1973 George Harrison knocked Paul McCartney and his #1 “My Love” from the top of the US singles charts with “Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth.” It was Harrison’s second #1 and the opening track on the album “Living in the Material World.”
