The state of Michigan is back open after 15 months under coronavirus pandemic restrictions. Restaurants and other businesses can go back to full capacity and residents no longer need to wear masks indoors or outside. Even though restrictions have been lifted, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, the state’s chief medical director, still asks that people remain on guard against COVID-19.

“If you are not yet vaccinated, you should still exercise a little bit of caution,” says Khaldun. “Social distancing, wearing a mask, especially in indoor public spaces, quarantining, and getting a test if you’ve been around someone who has COVID-19. And please, please get your vaccine as soon as you can and do not delay any longer.”

Currently, 61% of Michigan residents over the age of 16 have gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
