The St. Joseph City Commission has approved the applications of 10 businesses to be part of the city’s social district providing it is approved by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. The city held a meeting Thursday afternoon that lasted less than six minutes, voting 4-1 with only Commissioner Jeff Richards voting no, as he had previously opposed the social district.

“This is a special meeting that was called by the city commission for the purpose of considering requests for resolutions from licensees who’s like to participate in the social district,” explained City Manager John Hodgson. He says the MLCC will have final say.
