Although the case rate continues to lead the nation, Michigan’s COVID-19 numbers have been improving over the past ten days. Governor Gretchen Whitmer says that may mean a lightening up of restrictions soon.

“We are continuing to monitor what the CDC is recommending and our data here in Michigan, and I would anticipate forthcoming policy changes, potentially, that would feel a little bit more normal for all of us,” Whitmer said.

Hospitalizations fell last week by 12%. For Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 4,371 additional cases of COVID-19. That brings the state to a pandemic total of more than 833,000 cases. There were 38 additional deaths reported, bringing the state to a total of 17,467. Berrien County reported 54 additional COVID cases for Tuesday, now at a pandemic total of 13,127 with 248 deaths. Van Buren County had 27 additional cases for the day for a total of 6,227 with 99 deaths. Cass County reported 15 new cases for the day for a total of 4,565 with 68 deaths.
