Michigan’s COVID numbers are continuing to soar. There were more than 84-hundred new COVID-19 cases Saturday, the highest number for a single day since early December, and the combined total for Sunday and Monday was 10,293. Does that mean the governor could go back to smaller capacity limits at bars and restaurants? Last week, she said no.

“We’re following the data and the science, but there’s context that matters. We are a year into this. We now have vaccines,” said Whitmer. “We didn’t have vaccines in November when we did our pause. We do now. We have put over 4.2 million shots into arms at this point.”

Governor Whitmer said COVID fatigue and less mask-wearing is contributing to the numbers, along with travel to variant hot spots live Florida. She’s advising everyone returning from spring break travel to get tested and stay home until the test results come in.
