The Berrien County Health Department says if you now qualify for a COVID-19 vaccine and want to sign up for one through them, the thing to do is to check their website on a regular basis. The vaccine page will be updated to show when appointments are available, says department spokesperson Gillian Conrad, who spoke with WSJM News.

“The health department will be posting information about available appointments for people to self-schedule at upcoming clinics,” Conrad said. “For the next several weeks, that may be fairly sporadic, and so people are encouraged to check back to that website page fairly often.”

If there are no appointments available at the moment, the page will say, “There are no available appointments at this time. Please check back again.” You may want to check multiple times a day. Conrad tells us the health department is now getting to those who became eligible this week.

“But with more providers coming online and providing that vaccine as well as an increase in supply anticipated in the coming weeks, we sure hope that we’re going to be able to get vaccine out even quicker for our community.”

Conrad says there are multiple other ways to schedule vaccinations, including Meijer in Benton Harbor, RiteAid throughout the county, and Spectrum Health Lakeland. With the first two, you can check their websites or call. With Spectrum Health Lakeland, they use the MyChart system. It offers a vaccine questionnaire.
