A defense attorney for former Governor Rick Snyder makes his case in front of a Flint District Judge to have charges dismissed in the Flint water crisis. Attorney Brian Lennon wants two misdemeanor counts of willful neglect of duty thrown out because, among other things, he says the case is charged in the wrong county. Prosecutor Bryant Osikowicz says the executive office of the governor is not charged, but rather Snyder as an individual, so territorial restrictions do not apply.

“Either claim that wherever he travels his duties remain behind in Lansing like some house plant is illogical. Likewise it’s illogical to claim that his duties were only possessed by him rather than owed and possessed to the people and places the governed. Contrary to the defendants assertions, he did owe a duty to the city of Flint and its citizens,” said Osikowicz.

District Judge William Crawford will decide in the next seven days whether to dismiss the case.
