Tuition at Southwestern Michigan College is going up slightly. During Southwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday, a tuition hike of 1%, or $1.25 per contact hour, for in-district students was approved. There will also be increases of $1.75, or 1.1%, for in-state students, and 1% for out of state or international students. SMC President Joe Odenwald said the increases will be offset by significantly-increased scholarship offerings. Odenwald noted enrollment for spring is up by 180 students, partly due to new students enrolled in the Futures for Frontliners program. He also said plans are being made for in-person commencement ceremonies this May. They would be held outdoors.
