The Berrien County Health Department and Spectrum Health Lakeland are preparing for the days when there will be enough COVID-19 vaccine to hold large community clinics. That’s why they’re seeking volunteers. Berrien County Health Officer Nicki Britten spoke about the need for volunteers on Friday.

“We are seeking both clinical and non-clinical individuals,” Britten said. “Even if you are not a medical professional and you cannot administer the vaccine, there are lots of other, supportive roles to make these large scale events happen.”

Britten said non-clinical volunteers may be asked to assist with scheduling, check people in, screen people as they arrive, or help with signing consents. Clinical volunteers may be asked to administer the shots, or observe people post vaccination. There is flexibility with shifts, although Britten said they’re hoping for volunteers who can commit to 20 hours per month. You also have to be at least 18. Volunteers can sign up right here.
