The governor is temporarily suspending tax payments for restaurants and entertainment venues that have been closed by health orders. Whitmer is calling it a “postponement.” Starting immediately, all places that rely on indoor dining can postpone their sales, use and withholding tax payments through the 20th of next month.

“The State Treasury will waive all penalties and interest for 31 days,” says Whitmer. “This is a crucial step in helping struggling businesses. We still need the federal government and the state Legislature to act.”

Whitmer asking the state Legislature to approve $100 million in relief for hard-hit businesses and workers. She is also encouraging all businesses to start coming up with a plan that would offer incentives to encourage workers to get vaccinated.
