St. Joseph Public Schools is shutting down Brown School through next Friday, December 11 and putting all students into virtual learning. In a letter to parents, superintendent Dr. Thomas Bruce says it’s due to a “significant number of confirmed teachers with COVID-19, another exhibiting symptoms, and two more teachers in quarantine through December 14th-16th.” Additionally, the elementary has 44 students in quarantine due to the positive and probable cases. The school is the smallest in St. Joseph for in-person learning with 281 students. Bruce says the decision to close is “not made lightly.”
