A 35-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run accident involving an SUV and a motorcycle in Benton Township. It happened at 9 p.m. Monday on Union Street at the Briarwood Apartments. According to police, the SUV pulled into the path of the motorcycle while turning into the complex. The man was thrown off the bike and died at Spectrum Health Lakeland. He wore a helmet, but it came off in the wreck. Police have found the SUV but not their suspect. They say alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
