United Federal Credit Union has donated $20,000 to the American Red Cross to help the agency provide support for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. United Federal Credit Union has released the following:

As nonprofits around the country work to support communities struggling during the pandemic, United Federal Credit Union (United) is proud to announce it has donated $20,000 to aid the American Red Cross. United is honored to help organizations like the American Red Cross continue to make a difference in the communities where we work and live.

The donation is part of a continued partnership between United and the American Red Cross to ensure local communities have the resources necessary to manage emergencies and challenging times. American Red Cross chapters across the country have seen an increase in need from individuals and families in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including financial, personal protective equipment, and other important resources.

“We truly appreciate this generous donation from United and their support of the Red Cross mission in the community,” said Todd James, Executive Director for the American Red Cross of North Central Ohio. “This gift will provide vital support to help those who turn to the Red Cross when disaster strikes, for service members, veterans and their families who need support in times of crisis and for those who count on a safe, stable blood supply for area hospitals.”

The donation will be split among eight chapters in six states. The following chapters will receive $2,500:

  • Fort Smith, Arkansas
  • Northwest Chapter, Merrillville, Indiana
  • West Michigan, Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • Southwest Michigan, Kalamazoo, Michigan
  • Western North Carolina, Asheville, North Carolina
  • Blue Ridge Piedmont, Hickory, North Carolina
  • Northern Nevada, Reno Nevada
  • Greater Columbus, Columbus, Ohio

“United recognizes the important work the American Red Cross provides in the communities where we work and live. This year has provided unique challenges for all of us, but especially for organizations like theirs who offer first line help to our neighbors,” said Kaylee Ganus, United’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “Our team at United is dedicated to improving our hometowns, and know this donation will provide relief to those that are impacted by small and big disasters.”

The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. They aspire to turn compassion into action so that all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope. Some important initiatives include preparing communities for disasters, providing access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products, supporting members of the armed services and their families, and training individuals to use their Red Cross skills to save lives in an emergency.
