More Than 8,500 Cases Of COVID Identified In Michigan For Friday

Michigan reported yet another new record number of additional COVID-19 cases for Friday. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website, the state had 8,516 new cases for the day and 118 additional deaths, 83 of which were identified through a review of vital records around the state. In total since the pandemic started, the state has had more than 244,000 cases and 7,929 deaths. Locally, the Berrien County Health Department’s COVID dashboard is showing 135 new cases of the illness for Friday, with the county at a total of 3,910 since March. Berrien County’s deaths continue rising, now at a total of 94, one more than Thursday. Local hospitalizations include 45 non-ICU hospitalizations and 4 patients in the ICU.
