The U.S. is facing a serious blood shortage with donations down because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We typically see November and into December as very challenging times for the American Red Cross to collect blood products,” says American Red Cross Michigan spokesman Todd Kuhlman. “So right now we certainly are asking donors who are eligible to give for patients in need this holiday season.”

Kuhlman says they have been able to supply blood to hospitals for surgeries, but he’s concerned that could be a problem again as we see a second wave of the pandemic. You can get more information at redcrossblood.org.
