South Haven Area Emergency Services is taking fire and water safety messages to school kids. They paraded equipment past Maple Grove School on Tuesday, with more events planned for this week’s Fire Prevention Week. Chief Brandon Hinz notes school cooperation has been “tremendous” and even though his firefighters aren’t able to be in the schools due to COVID-19 precautions, they’re still able to “effectively deliver the fire safety message thanks to technology.” Their work is being done along with Bronson-South Haven Hospital’s “Safe Kids” program. Kids are also being encouraged to draw a home fire escape plan and submit it to SHAES, with winners will be receiving SHAES t-shirts.
