Lakeshore Public Schools has received a donation of 250 masks as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The Lakeshore Excellence Foundation’s Kathleen Wolf tells WSJM News the specially designed masks come from Dr. Gyl Kasewurm of Professional Hearing Services.

“The masks are a combination of fabric with adjustable ear straps, but what makes them unique is there’s a clear plastic area so you can see somebody’s lips and mouth,” Wolf said.

Wolf says that will make communication between students and teachers easier. She thanked Dr. Kasewurm, a graduate of Lakeshore High School.

“She’s what we call a Lancer Leader, always supporting the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation in monetary and other ways, as you can see from this donation.”

The masks were received by Lakeshore Superintendent Phil Freeman, who is working to give them to staff and students with the most need. They feature Lancers logos and are red and black.
