South Haven Area Emergency Services says there have been multiple water rescues in Lake Michigan to start off Labor Day weekend. SHAES has released the following statement:

SHAES and law enforcement agencies have responded to three rescues on Lake Michigan in South Haven this afternoon.

Two incidents occurred within a few minutes of one another off the south beach. SHAES responded at 2:35 p.m. In one, an unconscious female was found floating unconscious in the water. She was brought to shore by good samaritans, administered CPR and taken by SHAES ambulance to Bronson South Haven Hospital. At about the same time a male adult became caught in rip currents near the south pier. He was assisted by a nearby boater and taken to the city’s southside marina. No further medical treatment was required.
At 4:30 p.m. a Van Buren County Sheriff marine patrol observed a male floundering in the water approximately one mile off the north beach. He had apparently been thrown from a dingy in waves that were three-to-five feet. Deputies rescued the male and brought him to the city southside marina where he was treated by SHAES responders and taken to Bronson-South Haven Hospital.
