Water Rescue In South Haven Saturday

South Haven Area Emergency Services says a man is hospitalized after being pulled from Lake Michigan on Saturday. SHAES has released the following:

South Haven Area Emergency Services responded to an incident off the South Beach on Saturday afternoon at 1:50 p.m. A man and a woman were reported in the water on the lake side of the pier. Witnesses said the woman had apparently been swept into the water by waves and the man went into the water in an attempt to rescue her. The woman was able to reach the beach. A SHAES responder who was in the vicinity of South Beach donned his water rescue equipment and with the help of good Samaritans located the man and brought him to shore. The male was first brought to Bronson South Haven Hospital. An Air Care helicopter from Kalamazoo was on standby. The woman was evaluated at Bronson-South Haven Hospital. The SHAES responder was also taken to Bronson-South Haven Hospital for observation. The National Weather Service had issued a Beach Hazard Warning for the lakeshore. Red (do not swim) Flags were posted at the time of the incident.
