Michigan retailers saw another month of increased sales as stores remain open with certain restrictions — such as half capacity seating limits and face mask orders. Michigan Retailers Association spokesperson Meegan Holland says the July retailers index indicates an improvement in sales.

“Things look a little more optimistic than they did last month,” says Holland. “Of course, this is the first full month that retailers were open for an entire month. The retail index shows that sales increased by 64% over June, and that is a really healthy bump for a lot of retailers.”

Looking ahead, 54% of retailers predict sales will continue to rise in the next three months — although 23% said they expect a sales decline.
