Michigan State Police are announcing guilty pleas in a case against former South Haven Finance Director Wendy Hochstedler and Daniel Beck, who is a member of her household. She was fired in November 2018 after city auditors found she had kept five credit cards open after the city employees they had been assigned to no longer worked for the city. From July 2015 until November 2018, she and Beck made over $130,000 in fraudulent purchases. In late July, Beck pled guilty to one count of illegal possession of a financial transaction device and Hochstedler pled guilty to embezzlement of $100,000 or more. They will be sentenced September 21.
