Congressman Fred Upton is pushing for a new coronavirus stimulus package that will include money for schools to reopen. He tells WSJM News he’s been talking with superintendents throughout the Sixth District, and hearing that they need help.

“Our schools do not have the resources necessary to really ensure the safety of all of those folks that are there, which is why it is so important that we come back with a funding package that’s going to help our schools be safe for those children and for the people that work there.”

Upton says the stimulus talks are stalled right now, but there’s too much pressure on Congress to get something done for them not to resume. He thinks the talks could start again as soon as this week.
