A new survey finds that 40% of Michiganders are less concerned about the coronavirus today than a month ago. The results are being highlighted by a coalition of healthcare and business leaders from across the state. DTE Energy CEO Gerry Anderson is the coalition leader and told Michigan News Network this week the recent increase in the number of cases is concerning.

“This issue is in the hands of ten million Michigan citizens,” Anderson said. “We can all decide where it goes. If we broadly do the basics and do them well, we will keep this in the box. But I must tell you that our cases bottomed out in early June at 84 per million. The number I looked at today was 537.”

The survey found that nearly half of the state’s population was “conflicted, confused, or casual” about following health and safety guidelines. The other half was committed to taking precautions.
